Scala Back-end Engineer, mid-level to senior-level
We seek a Scala Back-end Engineer to join our office in Hollywood, Los Angeles and help lead the way in developing ChimpChange’s awesome mobile banking software.
ChimpChange is beginning a transition from Java to Scala. The high-speed, transactional nature of our product presents a fantastic opportunity to apply functional and reactive programming techniques. Not only are we personally interested in these techniques, but the growing load on our API will demand them in the future.
This position will report directly to the VP of Engineering of the company.
Required:
- 3-5 years of experience in software development
- Skill with Scala and Java
- Knowledge And Expertise Understanding of unit testing & Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Excellent Object Oriented skills
- Familiarity with SOAP and REST.
- Some familiarity with Linux system administration
- Can “jump in to fix a bug” occasionally on short notice
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Is an Agile development samurai
- Personable, good-natured, well presented, and conducts themselves with strong, honest values
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, along with experience in cross-culture communication
Very-nice-to-haves:
- Familiarity with functional data structures
- Familiarity with Scalaz
- Familiarity with ScalaTest and ScalaCheck
- Participation in the Coursera Scala functional and/or reactive programming courses
