Ancient skeuomorphic design, that's cool. Also, the fact that only stone structures remain today reminds me of how ancient Greek sculptures were actually painted bright colors, which later faded.
That's been going on a long time - see the "stone age" and "cavemen". Is it any coincidence that stone lasts a lot longer than wood or leather, and caves preserve artifacts better than leaving them in an open field?
I have been trying to figure out the origin of egg and dart for years. This is an interesting direction to explore, I guess with some artistic license over centuries I could see that it evolved from the tip points of structural members. Maybe the rings of a wooden pole splitting from drying out.
